Ecoland Organic Ghana
This project seeks to support Organic Agricultural Organizations in the area of environmental and/or social standards (e.g., EcoFair, Demeter, Rainforest, etc.) and their implementation. The long-term goal is to assist farmers in improving their living conditions by connecting them with export markets. To date, the project has partnered with Sequa gGmbH and the Import Promotion Desk (IPD), a project of the GIZ, to further this mission.
Capacity Building and Value Chain Improvement
In addition to its core objectives, the project offers tailor-made trainings focused on capacity building and value chain improvement in Ghana. A 2-year Diploma programme was also established as part of the project and has been running for the past 18 months. The first batch of graduates is expected by the end of this year.
The project also features a demonstration field where field trials are conducted. This year, experiments are being carried out on different mulch materials and their effect on ginger yield.
Climate Certification and CO2 Credits
With a growing focus on climate certification and CO2 credits, the project has initiated activities to support the establishment of a local organic certification body. Training programs are also being developed to facilitate this goal.
Future Projects and Research Initiatives
Proposals have been submitted for additional projects, some of which are purely research-based, unlike the activity-driven Partner Afrika Project, which is closely tied to Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
