Living-lab Agri-Digital education (AgDiBi) founded [05.09.23]
Strengthening knowledge transfer on digitalisation in agricultural educationIn July 2023, the first living laboratory for digitalisation and agricultural education in Baden-Württemberg was launched as part of the CODECS research project (www.horizoncodecs.eu). The real laboratory Agri-Digital Bildung (AgDiBi) is scientifically coordinated by the University of Hohenheim and implemented in close cooperation with the Hohenheim experimental farm Ihinger Hof and other practical partners. Together with other partners from the Böblingen District Office from the 5G-PreCiSe project, the Herrenberg Technical College, the agricultural vocational schools in Ludwigsburg and Herrenberg and the State Institute for Agriculture (LEL), work is being done to strengthen the transfer of knowledge on digital technologies in agricultural education in a practical way.
A living laboratory is an experimental space in which practice and research work closely together to overcome real social challenges and at the same time gain new insights. In AgDiBi, a common objective was formulated for this purpose, which is to contribute to the long-term and sustainable orientation of knowledge transfer on digitalisation in agricultural education. One focus is on the development of competences of agricultural students. The creation of interest in and confidence in the use of digital technologies is central to this. A first measure on this path is the practical demonstration of the added value of selected technologies in order to support the opinion formation of prospective farmers.
The partners in the living lab will jointly address the challenges of excellent, target group-oriented and practical education on the application of digital technologies in agriculture. This includes addressing content-related, technical and didactic issues. As a first initiative, a field day on the topic of digitally assisted fertilisation for vocational and technical students is planned for 2024 at the Ihinger Hof. Further field days are planned for 2025 and 2026 and are to be supported by accompanying teaching offers in the schools.
