In September, the annual "Tropentag" conference was again held in Berlin at Humboldt University on the theme "Competing pathways for equitable food systems transformation: trade-offs and synergies." It is an interdisciplinary conference on research in tropical and subtropical agriculture, natural resource management and rural development, jointly organised by several leading agricultural universities in Europe.  Hycenth Tim Ndah and Friederike Selensky participated with poster presentations. Tim presented results from the project SMIL-UH with the topic "Farmers' perception of the effects of interactive training and on-farm testing of seedball technology for enhancing adoption: Maradi, Niger". Friederike presented first results of a review from the trans4num project entitled "Sustainable nutrient management: exploring transformation pathways across intervention levels".

At the GEWISOLA conference on "Sustainable Food Systems and Land Use Change" in Göttingen, Yuko Muramatsu participated and presented research results by Beatriz Herrera and herself from the ImproDiet - Co Project in Turkana (Kenya). The focus is on community-based interventions in kitchen gardens to improve dietary diversity and nutrition. The project team is examining the action research projects conducted under the ImproDiet-Co project in Turkana and evaluating the implementation strategy of kitchen garden, table banks and poultry. It also examines whether this knowledge integration project actually solves problems in communities and whether there is evidence of impact. The presentation provided a brief overview of the research evaluating the ImproDiet-Co project in Turkana.
